For første gang i Metrords historie skal der anmeldes en treer i en serie. Jeg taler selvfølgelig om Bobs Saga af Michael Kamp.
De to første bøger blev anmeldt her på sitet i henholdsvis 2007 og 2008, og nu kommer så tredje installation i 2009. Det virker desuden ikke som om, at MK har tænkt sig at stoppe ved en trilogi. Der er helt klart flere bøger på vej. Hvis læseren ikke kender til serien, kunne det være en god ide at læse mine anmeldelser af første og andet bind i serien. Med det sagt, så lad os komme videre til selve anmeldelsen. Tredje bind bærer undertitlen I mørke er alle helte grå , og den er meget velvalgt.
Verden har ændret sig meget for hovedpersonen Bob, og hans følge af eventyrere. Den gode gamle stil, med druk og hor viger pladsen for mørke skyer, der trækker sammen på horisonten. Mange nye personer introduceres, og det bliver sværere og sværere for Bobs gruppe at skelne, hvem der er deres venner, og hvem der er deres fjender. Som om det ikke var nok, begynder der også at ske underlige ting indenfor gruppen. Personerne ændrer sig, splid opstår, det er svært at finde ud af, hvem man egentlig kan regne med. Imens planlægger en meget større, og meget farligere fraktion at udnytte en verden, der ikke længere ved, hvor den er på vej hen. Der er kun en gruppe, der kan stoppe dem - og det er Bob og hans slæng.
Fra bagsiden:
Klove, klør og skællet fod. Første Broders hær marcherer sydpå og virker uovervindelig.
Fremtiden ser dyster ud for beboerne i slettelandet. Flygtningestrømmen tager til og bringer det værste frem i andre mennesker.
Natten falder over verden, da Første Broders plan nærmer sig fuldførelsen. Mørket trækker lange skygger, og ingen af vennerne kan forblive uberørt.

Hvor de to første bøger var meget lette i tonen, og fyldt med masser af humor, er tredje bind noget ganske andet. MK får stadig bragt en del komiske situationer ind, men det kan ikke ændre ved det faktum, at bogen er alt andet end munter. MK fastholder stadig alle de klassiske elementer fra fantasy, men stemningen er blevet dyster og ildevarslende. Menneskets modbydelige sider bliver vist frem som et stærkt plettet flag, mord og voldtægt er en del af hverdagen og blodet tapløber fra alle mulige (og umulige) kropsåbninger. Voldsscenerne er malerisk beskrevet, men smilet stivner en smule på ens ansigt, når man læser. Bob er gået ud af barndommen og ind i den grumme, voksne verden, hvor der er konsekvenser af ens handlinger.
Netop ændringen i bogens generelle feel er meget velplaceret, og følger godt op på de foregående bøger. I MKs bog er verden på vej til Helvede i en håndtaske, og han får med sikker hånd proppet læseren ned mellem de forskellige rum. Det gør, at bogen virker mere moden, og mere dragende i sine problematikker. Samtidig formår MK at holde figurerne tilstrækkeligt i deres grundlagte personlighed. De udvikler sig, men afviger ikke fra deres satte måder. Det er givtigt for læseren, der så derigennem ikke har nogen problemer med at genacceptere figurerne. Og så alligevel. Den eneste figur jeg har lidt problemer med, er Bob. Efter min smag bliver han lidt for kvik i visse sekvenser, og det ødelægger min ide om en hjernedød kriger en smule.
MK opererer med et gigantisk persongalleri. I bogens allerførste sider er der en kort personbeskrivelse af 10 af personerne. Det synes jeg faktisk er for lidt, da MK kaster om sig med navne, og man ikke altid er helt med på, hvem der er hvem. Den liste kunne, uden at skade, udvides med en 5-7 stykker til. Bogen indeholder rigtig mange afsnit, der finder sted mange forskellige steder. Derfor sidder jeg med en lidt uforløst fornemmelse, efter at have læst bogen færdig. For der er mange løse ender, og det vil kræve noget, at skulle binde dem alle sammen. Dog vil jeg ikke kaste dom over bogen endnu - men vente, til jeg har læst serien helt færdig.
I de to andre bøger, har jeg ikke studset meget over MKs sprog. I denne bog gjorde jeg det. Bogen indeholdt en del småfejl, og gentagelser. Det synes jeg er ærgerligt, da det er tydeligt, at MK mestrer det danske sprog i andre dele af bogen. Min største anke er udsagnsordene, der i passager godt kunne varieres noget mere.
I mørke er alle helte grå er uden tvivl den stærkeste bog i serien, indtil videre. Den jonglerer nogle vigtige ideer og fordrer, at læseren tænker. Det gør den uden at miste humoren, der titter frem en gang i mellem. Lige som de andre bøger læser man den færdig, når man først er begyndt på den. Det i sig selv er en kvalitet. Mit største spørgsmål til fireren bliver dog, om den verden MKs figurer lever i, vil transformere dem til ukendelighed.
Jeg vil tro, at MK arbejder på fjerde bind. Imens vi venter, bør det dog noteres, at Bobs Saga 3 er Michaels sjette bog, og at han for nylig har medvirket i Tellerups antologi Horror.dk
